Exclusive Packraft Trail: Gorges de Daluis
Why Gorges de Daluis is perfect for a packraft trail
Gorges de Daluis is one of Southern France’s most striking canyon landscapes, but most people only see the surface. On this packrafting trail, you move through red rock gorges, calm river bends, and hidden passages that few ever reach.
This is not a standard paddling trip. It’s a 2-day packraft adventure designed for those who want a true canyon experience: active, immersive, and well-paced. In spring, higher water levels can make the river more dynamic, adding an extra edge to the adventure.
Highlights Gorges de Daluis
Professional guides
Explore the Gorges de Daluis with experienced professional guides who know the canyon inside out. They lead you through remote sections, ensure safety on the river and share local knowledge throughout the trail.
Small groups
Hike and packraft combination
This trail combines hiking and packrafting into one continuous route. You move through the canyon on foot and by packraft on the water, accessing sections that are impossible to experience using just one mode of travel. In summer, when water levels are lower, part of the route becomes a hike straight through the river between the canyons.
Two days in remote canyon landscape
Packraft equipment included
All essential packraft equipment is included, including packraft, paddle and personal flotation device. You can focus fully on the adventure without worrying about logistics or gear.
Overnight stay in a Basic tent included
An overnight stay in a Basic tent with sleeping mats is included with the trail, at a carefully selected bivouac or campsite location within the canyon. A simple, cozy setup that lets you fully switch off and soak up the canyon atmosphere. You only need to bring your own sleeping bag.

Posted on Kevin Schreuder10 June 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Onze Oostenrijk trip met 12 man was geweldig: Alles was goed geregeld, flexibel, meedenkend in mogelijkheden. Bedankt!Posted on Julian Nelissen8 June 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Posted on Roy Van Thiel4 June 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Posted on Inge Fierens2 June 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Posted on Evelien Rogier1 June 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Top locatie, top begeleiding, top ervaring! Posted on Jolien21 May 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Echte aanrader !Google rating score: 4.8 of 5, based on 328 reviews
2-Day Packraft Trail • Gorges de Daluis
A premium 2-day packraft adventure through the Red Canyon of Southern France, starting and finishing in Entrevaux. You combine hiking and packrafting to reach remote canyon sections and hidden river passages that can’t be experienced in just one way. The trail is led by experienced guides and run in small groups.
🌊 Spring trail: higher water levels make the river more dynamic and adventurous, with longer descents and deeper canyon exploration.
☀️ Summer trail: lower water levels bring more immersive canyon travel, hiking and wading through the river, followed by a scenic packraft descent on the Var River.
For both trails, you’ll need good overall fitness and basic paddling control (straight-line paddling, turning, stopping).

THE 2-DAY TRAIL Gorges de Daluis
This trail is available in two seasonal versions. The route structure is similar, but the experience changes with water levels.
🌊 SPRING TRAIL (Apr–Jun)
Day 1
Higher water levels mean more time on the water. We start packrafting on the Var River, then hike deeper into the red canyon. Overnight inside the canyon (remote bivouac or small campsite, depending on conditions).
Day 2
After breakfast, we hike back down to the river and continue with a longer packraft descent toward Entrevaux, including playful Class II/III sections.
☀️ SUMMER TRAIL (Jul–Aug)
Day 1
Lower water levels shift the focus to canyon immersion on foot. We hike in and above the canyon, alternating between riverbanks and shallow water sections, with panoramic viewpoints. Overnight at a small campsite inside the canyon.
Day 2
After breakfast (self-catered via the campsite restaurant or nearby bakeries), we packraft the Var River on scenic and accessible Class II sections back toward Entrevaux.
TO JOIN THIS 2-DAY ADVENTURE, YOU SHOULD HAVE:
- A decent fitness level: you’re comfortable being active for two days in a row.
- Basic paddling experience: you can control a kayak/packraft well enough to:
– go straight
– turn smoothly
– stop safely - Good vibes: bring a positive mindset and soak up every moment of the adventure.
INCLUDED WITH THE TRAIL
- Complete packraft equipment; backpack, packraft, paddle and life jacket.
- Professional guides throughout the 2-day trail.
- Route planning and safety briefing.
- Overnight stay in the canyon (bivouac or campsite, depending on the season).
- 2-person dome tent, with sleeping mats.
- All-in Foodpack included with the Spring Trail.

FAQ
We do ask that you have basic kayaking skills: you can paddle straight, steer/turn, and stop safely.
You should also be comfortable outdoors and ready for two active days of hiking and packrafting.
You should be in good general condition and able to hike several hours per day with a backpack. The trail is active but not technical. A normal level of outdoor fitness is sufficient.
This is a fully guided trail. Our English- and French-speaking professional guides lead the group, manage safety on the river, and set the pace throughout the canyon. Groups are limited to a maximum of 8 participants, so we can provide personal guidance along the way.
Yes. Basic swimming ability is required for safety reasons, as you will be packrafting on moving water.
You can expect mostly Class II river sections on the Var River, with some playful Class II/III rapids depending on the season and current water level. Our guides adjust the route and pace to match the conditions on the day.
🌊 Spring trail: higher water levels make the river more dynamic and adventurous, allowing for longer descents and deeper canyon exploration.
☀️ Summer trail: lower water levels shift the experience toward canyon immersion on foot, hiking and wading through the river, followed by a scenic packraft descent on the Var River.
This trail is designed for experienced outdoor participants. Minimum age: 16 years. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Please contact us if you have any specific questions.
You will receive a detailed packing list before the trail. In general, you should bring suitable outdoor clothing, sturdy shoes that can get wet, a change of clothes, personal items, and any required camping gear if you are bringing your own tent. All technical packraft equipment is provided.
In spring, a warm sleeping bag and a good sleeping mat are essential. Hiking poles are optional, but can be very useful. Temperatures can be cool (around 10–15°C during the day and down to about 5°C at night). In summer, it is warm during the day, but nights can still be cool, especially near the canyon.
Bookings work via a request process. Here’s how it works:
- Step 1: Submit your request for a specific date via the booking calendar.
- Step 2: You pay a 25% deposit when submitting your request.
- Step 3: We check availability. Within 2 business days, you’ll receive confirmation or a suitable alternative if your date is fully booked. If the alternative doesn’t work for you, we’ll refund your deposit immediately.
- Step 4: 5 weeks before the trail starts, you’ll receive the invoice for the remaining 75%.
The meeting point on Day 1 is the Entrevaux train station car park at 09:00. You can travel by car or train. From Nice, participants taking the Saturday morning train arrive at 09:30, and we can wait until then. After everyone arrives, there’s a welcome and safety briefing by English- and French-speaking guides.
On Day 2, you’ll return to Entrevaux in the late afternoon.
Your camping gear is transported by our guides, so during the trail you only carry your packraft gear in the backpack you’ll receive during the briefing.
15 days before the adventure starts, you’ll receive detailed practical information (meeting point, schedule, routes, and a packing list).
Yes. Many participants join on their own. The trail is run in small groups and has a social, relaxed atmosphere.
You will stay overnight either at a remote bivouac site inside the canyon or at a small campsite, depending on the season. Both options are quiet and located far from villages and roads.
A 2-person dome tent with sleeping mats is included for the overnight stay. You only need to bring a warm sleeping bag, or you can rent one as an add-on during booking.
If you prefer, you’re welcome to bring your own tent and camping gear. All practical details are shared before the trail.
All essential packraft equipment is included, such as the backpack, packraft, paddle, and life jacket. A 2-person dome tent with sleeping mats is also included for the overnight stay.
You only need to bring personal clothing, suitable footwear and a warm sleeping bag (also possible to rent).
Your camping gear is transported by our guides during the trail, so you only carry the packraft equipment in the backpack you’ll receive during the briefing. Your backpack usually weighs around 8-10 kg, depending on personal gear and water. Our guides help optimise packing before departure.
Safety always comes first. If water levels or weather conditions are unsuitable, the guides will adapt the route or programme accordingly.
No. Due to hiking terrain, river sections and safety considerations, dogs are not allowed on this trail.
